“I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it. Don’t wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men’s store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.” Special Agent Dale Cooper, Twin Peaks.

Instant gratification. Immediate reward. The here and (right) now. Special Agent Cooper, gee whiz, perhaps you're onto something. Think of damn fine coffee that's hot and Polaroids so fast and bright. Or someone who just gets you, who can give you good design in this world that's wild at heart and weird on top.

Clint Sawyer is that someone. He likes Sonic Youth turned up loud and being the last one to crawl out of the surf under a sky of shouting blue. He drinks endless cups of green tea and eats peanut butter straight from the jar.

More importantly, though, this Clint fellow is a designer. But not one of those run-of-the-mills, the kind who is happy to play it safe and do what has been done a hundred times before.* No, no. Clint sees an idea – your idea – for what it can be, not just what it really is. He can work with you, for you, around you. He is all about clean lines and creative, authentic concepts in print, and online.

And the moral of this story? He's done the corporate thing and the agency thing, and now he‘s doing your thing.

So, for a good time, "call him." Give yourself a present.

*Unless, of course, that's what you want.
